ROUND 15 TEAMS AND FIXTURE (all times AEST)

FREMANTLE vs. GEELONG

Thursday June 18, 8:10pm at Optus Stadium

Dockers’ Round 13 side:

B: O.McDonald, A.Pearce – C, H.Chapman

HB: J.Clark, L.Ryan, K.Worner

C: M.Frederick, A.Brayshaw, N.O’Driscoll

HF: M.Reid, I.Dudley, S.Switkowski

F: P.Voss, J.Amiss, J.Treacy

FOLL: L.Jackson, S.Bolton, H.Young

I/C: J.O’Meara, M.Cox, C.Wagner, N.Erasmus, J.McVee

EMG: C.Scerri, H.Davies, J.Sharp

Team Tips: The ladder leaders should be well rested after a week off. That should allow them to regain Caleb Serong (calf) and get back to full strength, such is the case when a team is flying like the Dockers. Plus Matthew Johnson (hamstring) and Brennan Cox (knee) also figure to be available and Sean Darcy continues to press his case for a reprieve. Oscar McDonald and Jaeger O’Meara probably come out from the side that smashed North by 124 points a fortnight ago, while Nathan O’Driscoll might be the other unlucky omission. You sense Darcy will remain on the outside for now, with Justin Longmuir’s side yet to drop a game with Mason Cox as Luke Jackson’s backup ruck. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Cats’ Round 14 side:

B: C.O’Sullivan, J.Henry, L.Humphries

HB: J.Kolodjashnij, Z.Guthrie, M.O’Connor

C: J.Bowes, B.Smith, O.Dempsey

HF: O.Henry, J.Cameron, O.Wiltshire

F: P.Dangerfield – C, S.Neale, J.Martin

FOLL: M.Edwards, M.Holmes, T.Atkins

I/C: S.De Koning, T.Bruhn, O.Mullin, M.Blicavs, S.Mannagh

EMG: G.Stevens, J.Worpel, G.Miers

Team Tips: Should regain Gryan Miers (managed) to a side that owned Gold Coast by 45 points last Friday night, while the availability of Jack Bowes (hamstring) and Tom Stewart (concussion) is seemingly more up in the air. Tyson Stengle booted four goals in his VFL return to at least give Chris Scott something to think about and James Worpel (two goals from 36 disposals) and Jhye Clark (31 touches, one goal) also impressed in the twos. George Stevens, who was the late in for Bowes, probably gets squeezed out again. But you’d be hard pressed to find too many others vulnerable at selection, The Cats have been managing players all season, but they have a bye next week and Thursday night is clearly a big one where they’ll want all their stars on the park.

Has Hardwick gone too far? | 04:14

GOLD COAST SUNS vs. HAWTHORN

Friday June 19, 7:40pm at People First Stadium

Suns’ Round 14 side:

B: C.Ballard, S.Collins, M.Andrew

HB: B.Uwland, J.Noble, D.Rioli

C: Z.Uwland, C.Petracca, B.Jepson

HF: B.Humphrey, T.Miller, B.Long

F: L.Lombard, B.King, J.Walter

FOLL: N.Moyle, N.Anderson – C, M.Rowell

I/C: J.Jeffrey, S.Clohesy, J.Murray, L.Gulbin, O.Adams

EMG: N.Holman, J.Witts, B.Addinsall

Team Tips: A fair bit for Damien Hardwick and company to ponder after a third-straight Suns loss with a tough trip GMHBA Stadium. It suddenly has Gold Coast at risk of dropping out of the top 10, though Hardwick didn’t seem too concerned with side’s form when speaking post-match. It was a game where quite a few Suns had limited influence, with Zeke Uwland, Ben Long, Charlie Ballard and Jai Murray their lowest-rated players. Jarrod Witts (19 possessions, 11 contested, 64 hit-outs) was among Gold Coast’s best in the VFL, albeit in a 113-point loss to Geelong, while Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (one goal from 15 touches) remains outside the senior team and Beau Addinsall could also be in the mix for his debut. Wil Powell (shoulder) and Ethan Read (knee) should be nearing returns.

Hawks’ Round 13 side:

B: J.Sicily, J.Battle, J.Impey

HB: K.Amon, B.Hardwick, B.Ryan

C: D.Moore, C.Mackenzie, J.Weddle

HF: C.Nairn, M.Chol, J.Ginnivan

F: C.Macdonald, M.Lewis, N.Watson

FOLL: N.Reeves, J.Newcombe – C, W.Day

I/C: B.Macdonald, J.Ward, F.Perez, L.Meek, M.D’Ambrosio

EMG: C.Dear, J.Dalton, O.Greeves

Team Tips: Coming off their bye, the Hawks should be close to full strength again if Jack Gunston (foot) and Tom Barrass (hamstring) can prove their fitness on the training track, while Conor Nash’s (neck) return looks more up in the air. Hawthorn’s less experienced crop including Cameron Nairn and Bodie Ryan probably make way for their returning veterans, coming off that fade-out loss to the Bulldogs a fortnight ago. Their VFL side also had a bye.

Saints jag nail-biting win over GWS | 02:29

ADELAIDE CROWS vs. MELBOURNE

Saturday June 20, 1:15pm at Adelaide Oval

Crows’ Round 14 side:

B: J.Worrell, J.Borlase, M.Michalanney

HB: R.Laird, N.Murray, W.Milera

C: D.Curtin, J.Dawson – C, B.Cook

HF: B.Keays, T.Murray, J.Rachele

F: D.Fogarty, R.Thilthorpe, Z.Taylor

FOLL: L.McAndrew, J.Peatling, S.Berry

I/C: A.Neal-Bullen, L.Pedlar, J.Soligo, L.Nankervis, H.Hall-Kahan

EMG: F.Maley, B.Dowling, R.O’Brien

Team Tips: Outside of Fremantle, Adelaide is arguably the hottest team in footy right now. That’s despite having several experienced names on the sidelines in a healthy selection conundrum for Matthew Nicks that has the Crows very well placed. Izak Rankine (calf)and Taylor Walker (suspension) are due to return against Melbourne. Mark Keane has now played two SANFL games in his comeback from a lower leg injury, but Adelaide’s back six, also without Jordon Butts (calf), has been getting it done. Isaac Cuming (hamstring) and Mitch Hinge (ankle) should also be nearing their returns too. The one forced out from the team that defeated the Bulldogs is Luke Pedlar (hamstring), which would be Rankine’s spot, and surely Walker forces his way back. Toby Murray would be the obvious omission, but that would force Riley Thilthorpe to play more ruck in a year he’s battled injury. Intriguing calls ahead.

Demons’ Round 14 side:

B: J.Bowey, D.Turner, J.Lever

HB: B.Howes, H.Petty, K.Tholstrup

C: T.Sparrow, H.Langford, H.Sharp

HF: K.Pickett, K.Chandler, J.Melksham

F: B.Laurie, J.van Rooyen, B.Fritsch

FOLL: M.Gawn – C, J.Steele, E.Langdon

I/C: T.Rivers, P.Cross, L.Kentfield, L.Cooke, J.Fitzgerald

EMG: C.Jiath, M.Jefferson, J.Henderson

Team Tips: Set for two forced changes from their win over Essendon, with Harrison Petty (hamstring) and Lukas Cooke (facial injury) to come out of the side. Should open the door for Changkuoth Jiath and Matthew Jefferson, who booted five goals in the VFL, to return to the fold. Jack Henderson gathered 31 disposals with a goal in the twos to also throw his name into the mix, while Latrelle Pickett responded to his axing with one goal from 18 touches.

Kinglsey brutally honest on Jesse Hogan | 06:21

GWS GIANTS vs. CARLTON

Saturday June 20, 4:15pm at ENGIE Stadium

Giants’ Round 14 side:

B: C.Idun, S.Taylor, J.Laverde

HB: L.Ash, L.Whitfield, J.Fonti

C: C.Stone, C.Oliver, H.Thomas

HF: T.Greene – C, J.Stringer, P.Gothard

F: B.Daniels, J.Hogan, A.Cadman

FOLL: K.Briggs, T.Bedford, F.Callaghan

I/C: H.Himmelberg, L.Aleer, R.Angwin, T.McMullin, C.Brown

EMG: J.Delana, H.Oliver, M.Gruzewski

Team Tips: After their first loss in four weeks, the Giants could consider a change or two ahead of a favourable home clash with Carlton. Coach Adam Kingsley was critical of his decision to play Jesse Hogan in the seniors after overcoming his hip injury yet having little impact against the Saints. “I got that wrong. I don’t think he had an impact on the game … but he will be better next week.” In the VFL, Max Gruzewski responded to his omission by kicking 2.3 from 18 disposals and taking nine marks, while accumulator Jack Ough kept on pressing for his debut chance, totalling 31 disposals with eight clearances. AFL emergencies Harry Oliver and Joey Delana weren’t as busy, but the former still had 18 touches and five tackles. Stephen Coniglio (hamstring) is still at least a week away from a return, while Jack Buckley (hamstring) is expected to remain sidelined for at least the next fortnight.

Blues’ Round 13 side:

B: H.Dean, W.Derksen, N.Haynes

HB: N.Newman, O.Florent, B.Wilson

C: A.Cerra, S.Walsh, B.Acres

HF: W.Hayward, M.McGovern, B.Ainsworth

F: B.Kemp, H.McKay, F.Evans

FOLL: M.Pittonet, P.Cripps – C, J.Smith

I/C: L.Cowan, G.Hewett, F.Young, T.Byrne, J.Ison

Team Tips: Coming off their bye, the Blues are set to regain Jacob Weitering (calf) ahead of a big clash with the Giants. Josh Fraser’s side could also be boosted by Ollie Hollands (ankle) for the trip to Sydney, while Liam Reidy (ankle) should additionally be in a position to prove his fitness. Wade Derksen could be vulnerable at selection with Weitering coming back in, while it’s suddenly tight for spots for the returning Hollands, if the speedster is favoured by Fraser. Otherwise, there shouldn’t be much unforced change after four-straight Carlton wins, with a win over the Giants to really push the finals narrative. Zac Williams, Cooper Lord and Lewis Young were the Blues’ emergencies in Round 13. The VFL side also had a bye last weekend.

NAS role change pays off for Ross Lyon | 10:16

COLLINGWOOD vs. PORT ADELAIDE

Saturday June 20, 7:35pm at the MCG

Magpies’ Round 13 side:

B: B.Maynard, J.Howe, B.Frampton

HB: D.Houston, J.Daicos, I.Quaynor

C: J.Crisp, A.Anderson, R.Steele

HF: H.Harrison, N.Daicos – C, L.Schultz

F: M.Podhajski, T.Membrey, B.McCreery

FOLL: D.Cameron, S.Pendlebury, J.De Goey

I/C: P.Lipinski, H.Perryman, E.Allan, J.Buller, D.McStay

EMG: W.Parker, S.Swadling, N.Long

Team Tips: Gun defender Brayden Maynard was out training on Monday after avoiding surgery for a dislocated shoulder suffered against Melbourne in Round 13. Even with the added rest of the bye, surely Maynard will need a few weeks on the sidelines to strengthen his shoulder. Wil Parker would be the obvious replacement in defence, but Jakob Ryan and Tew Jiath are other options to come in. Ned Long responded to his King’s Birthday axing with 33 disposals, 10 clearances and seven tackles in the VFL and Sam Swadling should be nearing his AFL debut. Meanwhile, Steele Sidebottom, who was curiously managed just before the bye, would also be expected to return.

Power’s Round 14 side:

B: L.Evans, E.Ratugolea, T.Marshall

HB: D.Byrne-Jones, A.Aliir, L.Jones

C: E.Mackinlay, J.Horne-Francis, J.Burgoyne

HF: T.Cochrane, M.Georgiades, J.Berry

F: C.Durdin, J.Whitlock, J.Richards

FOLL: J.Sweet, Z.Butters – C, W.Drew

I/C: K.Farrell, O.Wines, X.Bamert, J.Mead, H.Ramm

EMG: D.Visentini, C.Moraes, J.Wehr

Team Tips: Josh Carr won’t feel inclined to make too many changes after taking Sydney all the way in another narrow loss for Port. Jack Lukosius (21 disposals and a goal) got through the SANFL unscathed as one of his side’s best, after a shoulder knock last week, and should push for an AFL recall. Jack Watkins (21 touches) and Mitch Zadow (four goals) also impressed at SANFL level as other potential reinforcements. Sam Powell-Pepper shouldn’t be too far away in his comeback from an ACL injury.

Carr proud of Power despite close loss | 08:40

RICHMOND vs. NORTH MELBOURNE

Sunday June 21, 1:10pm at the MCG

Tigers’ Round 14 side:

B: N.Broad, B.Miller, T.Brown

HB: N.Vlastuin, J.Short, S.Banks

C: P.Retschko, T.Taranto – C, J.Trezise

HF: T.Sonsie, S.Campbell, S.Green

F: M.Lefau, J.Alger, L.Fawcett

FOLL: N.Balta, D.Prestia, S.Cumming

I/C: O.Hayes-Brown, S.Grlj, M.Rioli, J.Hopper, K.Annand

EMG: K.Smith, S.Ryan, N.Roberts-Thomson

Team Tips: After a spirited performance in Hobart against the premiers – who they trailed by three points at half-time before a leaky third term – Adem Yze is unlikely to make many unforced changes ahead of a winnable MCG fixture against North Melbourne. One they will in all likelihood make, though, is the senior return of captain Toby Nankervis from a hamstring injury. It’ll mark a shift in team structure, with Yze presented with two options – either keep Ollie Hayes-Brown in the side and shift hybrid Noah Balta back or forward, or drop Hayes-Brown and keep Balta as a second-ruck who rolls forward. The VFL Tigers were dominated in Tasmania, leaving little scope for recalls, other than first-year forward Zane Peucker, who kicked a goal from 17 disposals and four clearances. Richmond’s AFL emergencies on Sunday were rebounder Kaleb Smith, ruckman Samson Ryan and half-forward Noah Roberts-Thomson. Hugo Ralphsmith has one more match to serve of his VFL suspension. Rhyan Mansell (foot) and Kane McAuliffe (Achilles) are nearing returns, possibly as early as this week. Harry Armstrong and Judson Clarke are nearing returns but aren’t likely to be available this week. The Tigers left Tassie unscathed.

Kangaroos’ Round 14 side:

B: L.McDonald, G.Logue, C.Comben

HB: C.McKercher, C.Daniel, L.Parker

C: J.Simpkin, L.Davies-Uniacke, D.Stephens

HF: P.Curtis, C.Trembath, C.Spargo

F: C.Zurhaar, N.Larkey – C, Z.Duursma

FOLL: T.Xerri, G.Wardlaw, H.Sheezel

I/C: T.Goad, J.Darling, C.Harvey, T.Blamires, J.Konstanty

EMG: T.Pink, Z.Banch, R.Hansen Jr

Team Tips: It was a win the Kangaroos were fortunate to walk away with, but one that was necessary no matter the circumstances to stay in touch with the top-10. Heading into a clash with Richmond that the Roos should win comfortably if they’re serious, there’ll be at least one change, unless Paul Curtis can overturn his three-match ban at the tribunal. Provided he ticks the boxes he needs to in concussion protocols, the Kangaroos will regain Finn O’Sullivan for the Sunday afternoon bout. Could Alastair Clarkson change things up in his backline after Jake Waterman had his way with Griffin Logue? Toby Pink was an emergency last Saturday, along with Zac Banch and Robert Hansen. Taylor Goad had four disposals in just 37 per cent game time, while Zane Duursma played only half the match. In the VFL, Aidan Corr was everywhere with 12 marks and 26 disposals, while Josh Goater continued his solid reserves form with 24 touches and eight marks. Tom Powell (groin) is still at least a week away from a return, but Riley Hardeman (concussion) could be back available.

Curnow has a go at Port fans after goal | 00:30

ST KILDA vs. WESTERN BULLDOGS

Sunday June 21, 3:15pm at Marvel Stadium

Saints’ Round 14 side:

B: J.Silvagni, C.Wilkie – C, A.Caminiti

HB: J.Sinclair, N.Wanganeen-Milera, B.Hill

C: D.Wilson, M.Hall, A.Hastie

HF: M.Owens, L.Ryan, C.Lake

F: R.Marshall, C.Sharman, M.Wood

FOLL: T.De Koning, H.Garcia, M.Windhager

I/C: J.Macrae, R.Byrnes, L.Stocker, D.Butler, A.Tauru

EMG: M.Phillipou, A.Dodson, H.Boxshall

Team Tips: Back on the winner’s list after a narrow win over GWS. Mattes Phillipou responded to his axing with 28 disposals, 17 contested, in the VFL to push his case for an instant recall. Paddy Dow (32 touches) and Liam Henry (three goals) also played well in the twos. St Kilda got through the Sunday’s win over the Giants unscathed and Jack Higgins (knee) and Max King (hamstring) won’t be far off returning from their respective setbacks. However, certainly in King’s case, the Saints would be extra cautious in reintegrating the star forward back to AFL level for his first game since 2024.

Bulldogs’ Round 14 side:

B: N.Coffield, B.Khamis, M.Sellwood

HB: C.Budarick, J.O’Donnell, B.Dale

C: A.Jones, M.Bontempelli – C, C.Hynes

HF: R.Sanders, J.Croft, A.Treloar

F: W.Lewis, A.Naughton, C.Weightman

FOLL: T.English, M.Kennedy, E.Richards

I/C: R.Lobb, J.Freijah, L.Bramble, L.Kennedy, R.West

EMG: J.Busslinger, L.Jaques, S.Davidson

Team Tips: One to watch in the fallout from the Dogs’ heavy loss to Adelaide is Adam Treloar, who was heavily managed in game and just doesn’t look to have the explosion that made the All-Australian such a powerful midfielder. Will Lewis was also very quiet against the Crows as another that would be vulnerable at selection. There’s talk Tom Liberatore (knee/concussion) isn’t far off from returning, despite his estimated timeline listed as ‘TBC’ last week, ahead of the Dogs’ Round 16 bye. Sam Davidson (26 disposals) was among their best in the VFL and feels due for a recall, while Lachie McNeil missed the loss to Adelaide with concussion and his return is unclear.

BYES: Brisbane Lions, Essendon, Sydney Swans, West Coast Eagles.
