THURSDAY JULY 30

North Queensland Cowboys vs Sydney Roosters, 7:50pm @ Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Cowboys Team: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Braidon Burns 3. Zac Laybutt 4. Tomas Chester 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Jake Clifford 7. Jaxon Purdue 8. Thomas Mikaele 9. Soni Luke 10. Jason Taumalolo 11. Heilum Luki 12. Jeremiah Nanai 13. Reuben Cotter 14. Ethan King 15. John Bateman 16. Matthew Lodge 17. Coen Hess 18. Sam McIntyre 19. Kaiden Lahrs 20. Kai O’Donnell 21. Liam Sutton 22. Ronald Philitoga

Analysis: The Cowboys will be without dummy-half Reed Mahoney (concussion) and New Zealand international Griffin Neame (suspension) this week, meaning there will be two new faces in the starting side. One of these will be Soni Luke who will start in the No.9 jersey, while Thomas Mikaele shifts from the bench into the front-row. The absence of the star duo opens up the door for English international John Bateman (hamstring) to come back into the side, while rookie KaidenLahrs has been named on the six-man interchange bench and could play his first NRL match since Round 3.

Roosters Team: 1. James Tedesco 2. Tommy Talau 3. Hugo Savala 4. Robert Toia 5. Mark Nawaqanitawase 6. Daly Cherry-Evans 7. Sam Walker 8. Naufahu Whyte 9. Reece Robson 10. Spencer Leniu 11. Nat Butcher 12. Siua Wong 13. Victor Radley 14. Connor Watson 15. Salesi Foketi 16. Egan Butcher 17. Taylor Losalu 18. Cody Ramsey 19. Reece Foley 20. Tom Rodwell 21. Benaiah Ioelu 22. De La Salle Va’a

Analysis: The Roosters have confirmed that Daniel Tupou (shoulder) will be sidelined for approximately the next five weeks. This allows Tommy Talau to take over from him on the wing, while Hugo Savala has been named to replace BillySmith (illness) in the centres. Reece Foley is the new face on the extended six-man bench as he looks to get another NRL appearance under his belt.

FRIDAY JULY 31

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Dolphins, 6pm @ WIN Stadium

Dragons Team: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Setu Tu 3. Mathew Feagai 4. Valentine Holmes 5. Tyrell Sloan 6. Daniel Atkinson 7. Kyle Flanagan 8. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga 9. Damien Cook 10. Toby Couchman 11. Analysis: New full-time Dragons head coach Dean Young has opted to make no changes to his starting side for this week’s match. Sticking with the same starting 13, he has also only made one change to the interchange bench with MosesSuli returning in favour of Emre Guler who drops to the reserves.

Dolphins Team: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jack Bostock 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Selwyn Cobbo 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Brad Schneider 8. Thomas Flegler 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Tevita Naufahu 22. Isaiya Katoa

Analysis: The return of NSW Blues outside back Jack Bostock (concussion) sees him slot straight back into the starting back-line with Tevita Naufahu making way. Bostock isn’t the only return for Round 22 with Jake Averillo (ribs) and RayStone (shoulder) being named on the extended six-man bench after stints on the sidelines with injury. Meanwhile, star halfback Isaiya Katoa has been named among the reserves and could potentially be a late inclusion. If unavailable, he will return the following round.

Katoa almost fit for Dolphins return | 01:56

Melbourne Storm vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, 8pm @ AAMI Park

Storm Team: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown 3. Manaia Waitere 4. Nick Meaney 5. Moses Leo 6. Tyran Wishart 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Trent Toelau 10. Josh King 11. Jai Bowden

Analysis: A hamstring injury to Harry Grant means Under-19s State of Origin man of the match Hayden Watson is in line to make his NRL first-grade debut off the interchange bench. Able to play in the halves or at hooker, Watson is set to play a one-two punch with Trent Toelau, who has been named to start. Meanwhile, Jack Howarth (shoulder) has been replaced by ManaiaWaitere, while both Shawn Blore and Joe Chan have been added to the six-man bench.

Bulldogs Team: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Matt Burton 4. Enari Tuala 5. Jethro Rinakama 6. Stephen Crichton 7. Lachlan Galvin 8. Max King 9. Bailey Hayward 10. Leo Thompson 11. Analysis: Superstar QLD Maroons representative and English international AJ Brimson (concussion) returns after a one-week stint on the sidelines and comes straight back into the centres with Jaylan De Groot dropping to the reserves. Energetic and livewire forward Kurtin Morrin (leg) also makes his return but will do so via the six-man bench with Siale Faemani the unlikely candidate to drop out of the squad.

Warriors Team: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Ali Leiataua 4. Adam Pompey 5. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Te Maire Martin 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Eddie Ieremia-Toeava 21. Rocco Berry 22. Luke Laulilii 23. Jacob Auloa

Analysis: A foot injury to Taine Tuaupiki means veteran Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad will return to the fullback position and will wear the No.1 jumper on his back. This change opens up a vacant spot on the six-man interchange bench, which has been taken by versatile forward Eddie Ieremia-Toeava after he was a late omission from last week’s contest.

Penrith Panthers vs Canberra Raiders, 5.30pm @ Glen Willow Oval

Panthers Team: 1. Jaxen Edgar 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Paul Alamoti 4. Casey McLean 5. Brian To’o 6. Jack Cogger 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Freddy Lussick 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Kalani Leuluai-going

Analysis: Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has made the bombshell call to axe Blaize Talagi from the halves after several poor defensive efforts over the past few weeks. Talagi’s axing coincides with Jack Cogger (suspension) returning to the line-up but instead of coming off the bench he will accompany future Immortal NathanCleary in the halves. That is the only change made by the Panthers this week as rookie Jaxen Edgar remains in the fullback spot due to Dylan Edwards (shoulder) remaining on the sidelines with injury

Raiders Team: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Jed Stuart 3. Simi Sasagi 4. Matthew Timoko 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Ethan Sanders 8. Corey Horsburgh 9. Owen Pattie 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Zac Hosking 12. Analysis: The Raiders have only made two changes for this week, with Owen Pattie (suspension) and Joe Roddy coming into the side. Meanwhile, the latter enters the side for rookie Vena Patuki-Case in a direct swap.

Brisbane Broncos vs Newcastle Knights, 7.35pm @ Suncorp Stadium

Broncos Team: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Josiah Karapani 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Deine Mariner 5. Grant Anderson 6. Ezra Mam 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Va’a Semu 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Xavier Willison 12. Analysis: The Broncos have confirmed that forward Preston Riki (syndesmosis) will miss the remainder of the season as he prepares to go under the knife. His absence will allow rookie Va’a Semu to start in the front-row for the first time in his young career, while Jaiyden Hunt joins the bench. That isn’t the only change with coach Michael Maguire deciding to axe Australian Kangaroos Gehemat Shibasaki with Deine Mariner taking his spot in the centres and Grant Anderson earning a call-up.

Knights Team: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Fletcher Sharpe 7. Sandon Smith 8. Cody Hopwood 9. Phoenix Crossland 10. Trey Mooney 11. Jermaine McEwen 12. Francis Manuleleua 13. Mathew Croker 14. Harrison Graham 15. Tyson Frizell 16. Thomas Cant 17. Brodie Jones 18. Fletcher Hunt 19. Lachlan Crouch 20. Toby Winter 21. Analysis: They may be without Dylan Brown (ACL) and Dylan Lucas (ankle) for the remainder of the season but they have received a massive boost with skipper Kalyn Ponga (quad) returning after being a late omission from last week’s match. Ponga’s return allows Fletcher Sharpe to shift back into the five-eighth role alongside Sandon Smith as the new halves pairing. Veteran centre Dane Gagai (calf) and back-rower Jermaine McEwen (hamstring) have also both been named to return meaning Fletcher Hunt and Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana will drop out.

SUNDAY AUGUST 2

Cronulla Sharks vs South Sydney Rabbitohs, 2pm @ Ocean Protect Stadium

Sharks Team: 1. William Kennedy 2. Sione Katoa 3. Jesse Ramien 4. KL Iro 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Braydon Trindall 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Thomas Hazelton 11. Samuel Stonestreet 22. Niwhai Puru

Analysis: Only one change has been made by Cronulla Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon with Thomas Hazelton (back) returning to the starting front-row from injury. His inclusion pushes Oregon Kaufusi back to the six-man bench – alongside Jesse Colquhoun – while Tuku Hau Tapuha is the man to make way.

Rabbitohs Team: 1. Matthew Dufty 2. Alex Johnston 3. Latrell Siegwalt 4. Jack Wighton 5. Campbell Graham 6. Cody Walker 7. Ashton Ward 8. Tevita Tatola 9. Brandon Smith 10. John Radel 11. Keaon Koloamatangi 12. Euan Aitken 13. Lachlan Hubner 14. Jye Gray 15. Jamie Humphreys 16. Liam Le Blanc 17. Sean Keppie 18. Jayden Sullivan 19. Edward Kosi 20. Thomas Fletcher 21. Tallis Duncan 22. Adam Elliott

Analysis: He hasn’t featured since Round 11 and Latrell Mitchell’s season looks to be over. That is according to Fox League’s Paul Crawley, who revealed that the Rabbitohs superstar is facing a nerve issue in his legs that resembles the one Tom Flegler endured. While Flegler’s nerve issue was in his shoulder, his recovery took 678 days between games with many hurdles and indefinite periods when it came to a return date. According to Crawley, Mitchell could be facing a similar predicament. “My understanding is that this nerve damage is similar in a way to what Tom Flegler suffered, and it looks likely to sideline Latrell,” Crawley revealed on NRL360 on Tuesday night. “It’s a nerve problem in his leg and its similar to the Flegler situation in that they just don’t know how or when he will be back. “I don’t think they are counting on him to return this year, it’s an indefinite thing. It’s also huge for him, at his best he has been brilliant this year. “There’s no time frame as I understand, it’s just how long is a piece of string?” Mitchell is also set to hit the open market come November 1 and his future has been under the microscope this season and a long-term injury could hamper his value on the open market. “He’s contracted until the end of next year and he’s off on November 1, but I do think the club and particularly Wayne Bennett really likes him,” Crawley said. “I don’t think Wayne is going to throw him out, I think they will do everything in their power to help him. “But there’s no doubt in the world it becomes a concern if you want to tie it up immediately.” As for Bennett’s Round 22 team, despite battling a calf injury last week against the Melbourne Storm, Brandon Smith has been named to feature in this week’s match against the Sharks. Meanwhile, Sean Keppie (thumb) is listed on the six-man interchange bench and will make his return with versatile forward Bronson Garlick dropping out of the side. TallisDuncan (hamstring) and AdamElliott (knee) have both been named among the reserves and could be late inclusions if they pass fitness tests later in the week.

Wests Tigers vs Parramatta, 4.05pm @ CommBank Stadium

Tigers Team: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Junior Tupou 3. Heamasi Makasini 4. Patrick Herbert 5. Sunia Turuva 6. Jarome Luai 7. Adam Doueihi 8. Terrell May 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. Fonua Pole 11. Samuela Fainu 12. Sione Fainu 13. Alex Twal 14. Heath Mason 15. Charlie Murray 16. Alex Seyfarth 17. Tony Sukkar 18. Tristan Hope 19. Starford To’a 20. Javon Andrews 21. Ethan Roberts 22. Bunty Afoa

Analysis: The Wests Tigers have made the bombshell decision to name Adam Doueihi in the No.7 jersey, just days after he self-withdrew from last week’s match against the Canberra Raiders. Doueihi’s return to the line-up comes despite reports emerging that the talented playmaker is set to walk out on the club due to his strained relationship with coach Benji Marshall. “I can’t believe they are going to bring him back… I don’t know how that happens,” CODE Sports Brent Read said on NRL 360. It also comes after he returned to training on Tuesday morning, following a tumultuous few days. Doueihi was seen in good spirits with coach Benji Marshall at Tigers HQ and in a funny moment teammate Jarome Luai joked that his teammates are “all off him” according to Fox League’s Cody Kaye. “We’re all off him. He’s a gronk,” Luai quipped. However, it isn’t clear whether Doueihi will remain at the club, with the Perth Bears understood to be monitoring his services.

The Lebanon international enters the side for rookie Javon Andrews who has been dropped to the reserves. Faaletino Tavana, Bunty Afoa, Ethan Roberts and rising dummy-half Jared Haywood have also been dropped for this week’s match. Heamasi Makasini and Sione Fainu return to the starting side, while CharlieMurray, TristanHope and TonySukkar are the new names on the six-man bench.

Eels Team: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Brian Kelly 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Jordan Samrani 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Ronald Volkman 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Sam Tuivaiti 9. Tallyn Da Silva 10. Jack Williams 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. Jack de Belin 14. Dylan Walker 15. Junior Paulo 16. Teancum Brown 17. Harrison Edwards 18. Joash Papali’i 19. Toni Mataele 20. Araz Nanva 21. Ryley Smith 22. Jonah Pezet

Analysis: The Eels have been granted a massive inclusion this week with Junior Paulo (knee) making his long-awaited return from injury. Set to join the Perth Bears, where there are whispers that he will become the club’s maiden captain, Paulo comes into the side for Luca Moretti (concussion) who has been ruled out due to the NRL’s mandatory stand-down policy.
