And we’ve already seen a mountain of player movement – some clubs losing half their squads from this season in wholesale changes.
But there’s still big names up for grabs, including Kiwi superstar Grace Nweke who is yet to announce her new home for next season.

AUG 24 – CLUB’S BIZARRE STATEMENT FOR STAR’S EXIT
Kate Eddy has become the sixth Melbourne Vixen to depart the club – but hers is in controversial circumstances given the club pulled their new deal “at the last minute”.
Exactly who made that final call on Eddy remains unclear amid confirmation there is no spot for the classy defender in 2027.
“She is absolutely distraught … she had some other interest from other clubs which she knocked back to deal purely with the Vixens. She is devastated,” her manager Anthony Panozzo told Code Sports.
Eddy revealed she was “heartbroken” by the call to end her time at the Vixens – leaving just Jo Weston from the five-player defensive unit of 2026 remaining.
“Heartbroken. The last week and a half have been one of the hardest times I have ever experienced,” Eddy shared.
“To be offered a contract with the Melbourne Vixens for the 2027 season and then to not, due to a breakdown in communication has left me shattered.
“The Vixens have been such an important part of my career and have felt like home over the past seven seasons.
“I am heartbroken that it has ended this way, but I will always be proud to have represented the Vixens, our members and the Victorian netball community.”
But bizarrely, in a statement released on Monday Netball Victoria CEO Andrea Pearman indicated the Vixens had been willing to keep Eddy for 2027.
“We would have loved to have kept Kate Eddy playing for the Melbourne Vixens and are disappointed this isn’t the case,” she said.
“She has our deep gratitude for her contribution to this team and we are excited to support her in an off-court role at Netball Victoria while she continues to pursue her playing career.”
So exactly where the contract breakdown occured remains unclear.
But Eddy has confirmed she’s been offered an off-field role at Netball Victoria.
“Thanks to Netball Victoria’s CEO Andrea, you have been so supportive throughout this stressful time and by supporting me with a role at Netball Vic, allowing me to keep pursuing my dreams of playing netball,” Eddy said.
“This club has been my family and my home for seven years and it breaks my heart to not be there for the 2027 season.
“Whatever is next is scary, but through this whole experience I have learnt that I am so lucky to have the people I have around me. I’m not done yet and I hope that I get to be out there on the Super Netball court again one day.”
Code Sports had reported it was a two-year deal on the table for Eddy. And as it stands, there are still four contracts to be officially revealed by the Vixens for 2027.
Eddy joins Em Mannix, Rudi Ellis and Maggie Caris in departing the Vixens defensive end.
Also leaving the club is young guns Lily Graham and Zara Walters.

AUG 24 – FRINGE DEFENDER MAKES HER MOVE AMID HEARTBREAK FOR RISING STAR
While fringe Diamond Ash Ervin has found a new home for 2027, it’s heartbreak for rising star Lucy Austin who looks set to go without a Super Netball contract in 2027.
Austin has been let go by the Giants, now Sydney Sirens, for next season – just one year after her big move from the Adelaide Thunderbirds in search of more court time.
But form woes proved costly and when a foot issue prematurely ended her season, Austin finished up playing just four games in orange.
“When Lucy joined the club, we were excited about what she could bring to our program, both on and off the court,” coach Nerida Stewart said.
“Unfortunately, her season didn’t unfold as anyone had hoped due to injury, but the way she handled that setback says a lot about her character.
“Lucy brought great energy to the group and embraced every opportunity to connect with our members and fans. She has been a fantastic representative … we wish Lucy all the very best for whatever comes next.”
Austin is expected to be replaced by Kiwi superstar Grace Nweke at the club for 2027 – but that announcement has yet to be made.
It’s a blow for Austin who sits on the cusp of Diamonds selection once again, having impressed at recent national camps before her Australian debut alongside newly named Vixen Ash Ervin.
In a move aimed at getting back on the Diamonds path, the 192cm Ervin arrives at the Vixens to join Aussie veteran Jo Weston.
“I’ve made the decision to challenge myself and see where I can take my netball, and I’m so excited for what’s to come,” she shared.
“I know there’s a lot of hard work ahead, but I’m ready to embrace the challenge, contribute wherever I can and continue growing my game in a new environment.
“It’s a big move for me, but one I’m ready for. I’ve loved my time in Queensland and I’m grateful for everything I’ve learnt there, but I feel like this is the right time to take the next step for my netball.”
In other signing news on Monday morning, Sacha McDonald has become the eighth Maverick signed for 2027.
“Sacha’s story is one of resilience, patience and persistence,” coach Gerard Murphy said.
“She has worked incredibly hard for her opportunity and when it came this season, she made the most of it.”
And there’s more South Australian talent out the door at the Thunderbirds, with both their 2026 11th player Lucy Voyvodic (Swifts) and Adelaide training partner Tabitha Packer (Firebirds) getting their first full-time deals.
AUG 23 – DEFENDER BIDS SAD FAREWELL
Emily Mannix has played her last game for the Melbourne Vixens.
Not been offered a new deal for 2027, Mannix shared her heartbreak on social media.
“Sadly I have played my last ever game for the Melbourne Vixens,” she posted.
“It’s time to hang up the dress & put away the runners. Although I’m disappointed I have to say goodbye to the club I started with 12 years ago, I am so grateful that it happened and so proud of all I’ve achieved.
“There is no way little Em from Drysdale would believe she’s played at the top level for all these years, represented her country, won premierships, overcome challenges & injuries, made lifelong friendships, travelled around the world to play, given birth, returned, then played in front of her greatest achievement!
“I’m not sure what is next, but whatever it is, I know it’ll be great! Netball hasn’t seen the last of me.”
Mannix has played more than 130 games for the Vixens since her debut in 2015, and finishes her time at the club as a premiership player.
She becomes the fifth player to depart the Vixens this contracting period.
