The ‘Adam Doueihi Saga’ took another turn on Sunday when reports emerged that he is set to walk out on the Wests Tigers amid claims his relationship with Benji Marshall is unfixable.

Facing an uncertain future, Doueihi’s next move is set to become one of the biggest talking points in the NRL, with a number of clubs expected to monitor his current situation closeley.

Here at foxsports.com.au, we examine which teams are genuine contenders to land the Tigers star and which clubs are simply out of the race?

BRISBANE BRONCOS

The retirement of veteran halfback Adam Reynolds could open the door for the Broncos to make a play for Adam Doueihi.

Not only is Michael Maguire a massive fan of Doueihi’s, having previously handed him his start at the Rabbitohs before later bringing him into the Wests Tigers, but the Broncos could see him as a potential replacement in their spine.

Jonah Pezet has not progressed as quickly as Brisbane would have hoped, which could allow Doueihi to slot straight into the No.7 jersey and take on a key role in their attack.

However, if Doueihi were to move to Red Hill, it is understood that the Tigers would need to contribute a portion of his salary due to the club’s current contract constraints.

CANBERRA RAIDERS

To put it bluntly, the Raiders just don’t need Adam Doueihi.

With Ethan Strange and Ethan Sanders locked in as the club’s long-term halves pairing – and Coby Black waiting in the wings – the Raiders spine is already well settled.

Although there were question marks over Sanders’ ability at times earlier this season, he has answered his criticis with a string of impressive performances in recent weeks, further strengthening the Raiders faith in him as the club’s long-term No.7.

Possibility: NO CHANCE

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

Could you imagin if Adam Doueihi found himself at Belmore?

Less than a season after raiding the Wests Tigers for Lachlan Galvin, the Bulldogs could once again turn their attention towards Concord and attempt to lure another key player away from their rivals.

While Cameron Ciraldo appears set on building around Galvin and Stephen Crichton in the halves, Doueihi’s ability to play as a lock could make him an attractive option for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have desperately been searching for a long-term solution at No.13 and Doueihi could fill that role with ease with his ball-playing ability and size.

He could also return to the halves if required, giving Ciraldo another genuine playmaking option as they look to make a premiership push in the next few years.

And boy would it be a blow to Benji Marshall.

CRONULLA SHARKS

If there is one team that won’t be making a play for Doueihi, it is the Cronulla Sharks.

With Braydon Trindall and Nicho Hynes firmyl established in the halves and plenty of depth across the back-line, the Shaks have little need to target someone like Doueihi.

Instead, their recruitment focus is expected to be on strengthening its forward pack.

Possibility: NO CHANCE

DOLPHINS

The Dolphins interest in Adam Doueihi would primarily depend on whether or not they decide to re-sign Kodi Nikorima beyond the 2026 season.

If Nikorima departs, the Dolphins could view Doueihi as an experienced replacement who can accompany Isaiya Katoa in the halves and provide versatility across a number of different positions.

While the club also have Brad Schneider and George Williams on their books for next year’s campaign, Doueihi is a better repacement and more attractive option.

However, if Nikorima remains at the Dolphins, their need for Doueihi would significantly decrease.

GOLD COAST TITANS

A move to the Gold Coast appears unlikely for Adam Doueihi, despite the Titans need to continue improving their roster.

While there is no double that he would provide valuable experience and versatility, coach Josh Hannay appears committed to developing the club’s homegrown talent and building around the club’s emerging core.

Still in the midst of the rebuild, the club is prioritinsg long-term roster growth rather than adding an already established player like Doueihi to their side.

MANLY SEA EAGLES

With Luke Brooks sidelined for a significant period of next season after rupturing his ACL, the Sea Eagles could emerge as an outside chance to land Adam Doueihi’s services.

Although the halves is currently being covered by Joey Walsh and Jamal Fogarty, Manly could view Doueihi as a player who provides the composure and clutch moment their spine currently lack.

His experience in high-pressure situations, along with his ability to create opportunites and control games, could make him an attractive option for the Northen Beaches side who are looking to win a title in the near future.

MELBOURNE STORM

The Storm could find themselves in the market for a new playmaker following reports that Cameron Munster is considering making a move to the PNG Chiefs for the 2028 season.

With Munster potentially nearing the end of his time at the Storm, Melbourne may be forced to plan for life without him, opening the door for a player like Adam Doueihi to become a potential target.

Doueihi’s ability and experience makes him an appealing option for the club as they look to main their premiership window.

While he may not immediately move into the No.6 jersey, he could easily fill the Tyran Wishart utility role over the next 12 months before eventually taking over as the club’s long-term five-eighth option.

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

Despite Doueihi’s obvious talent, the Knights are another club that are unlikely to make a play for the Lebanon international having already cemented their key positions for the future.

If this was 12 months ago, Newcastle would have been a much more realistic destination given their uncertainty in the halves and need for a talented playmaker.

However, their spine has taken shape under coach Justin Holbrook, while the club also have several emerging rookies who are being earmarked for long-term roles in the centres and forward pack.

Possibility: UNLIKELY

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

The Warriors may lose Luke Metcalf next season, but they already have plenty of options across their spine meaning they won’t be making a play for Doueihi.

Instead of trying to lure the playmaker over to New Zealand, they are set to priortise other areas of their roster with Chanel Harris-Tavita, Te Maire Martin, Jett Cleary and Tanah Boyd already locked in.

The club also currently has just one spot remaining on their Top 30 roster for next season.

They are likely to keep it vacant for the time being, allowing them the flexibililty to make a potential mid-season signing next year if an opportunity arises.

Possibility: NO CHANCE

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

The Cowboys may have handed Jake Clifford an extension to keep him as Tom Dearden’s halves partner but they should still be firmly in the race for Adam Doueihi.

Only a couple of weeks ago, Clifford was dropped from the starting side, highlighting that the Cowboys were still searching for the ideal long-term combination alongside Dearden.

While Jaxon Purdue is also an option, he is set to shift to fullback in 2027 following the departure of Scott Drinkwater, leaving the Cowboys with limited established options in the halves.

This opens the door wide open for North Queensland to make a play for Doueihi, as the Tigers star would fit in perfectly alongside their co-captain.

Possibility: TOP CONTENDER

PARRAMATTA EELS

Can you imagine the scenes if Adam Doueihi finds himself at the Eels?

Not only are they one of the Wests Tigers’ biggest rivals, but they have already raided the club by securing the services of Jarome Luai.

Adding Doueihi would intensify the rivalry between the two clubs and would immediately turn the Blue and Gold into a premiership threat.

While he wouldn’t be used in the halves, his versatility could see him slot straight into the centres or even at lock.

This could see them line up with a team consisting of Isaiah Iongi, Josh Addo-Carr, Jack Howarth, Mitchell Moses, Jadyn Su’A, Tallyn Da Silva, J’Maine Hopgood, Luai and Doueihi.

It should also be noted that Doueihi’s management holds a close relationship with their skipper, which could play a factor if the club tries to make a push for his services.

Possibility: SMOKEY

PENRITH PANTHERS

The Panthers are one of the teams on this list that are ‘no chance’ of signing the Lebanon international.

Although Doueihi was on the verge of an Origin debut this year, the Penrith roster is just too stacked to make a serious play for his services.

Blaize Talagi and Nathan Cleary are locked in as their halves pairing, while Isaah Yeo is the Australian No.13 and Izack Tago – who is on around $700,000 a season – can’t even get a crack into the centres.

Instead, Penrith will focus on retaining their premiership core who will be able to test the open market from November 1.

Possibility: NO CHANCE

PERTH BEARS

The Perth Bears may have failed in their attempts to secure a marquee name for 2027, but that could soon change if they were able to land Adam Doueihi.

The signing of Doueihi would provide the NRL’s newest expansion club with an established playmaker for the foundation season and allow him to partner Toby Sexton in the halves, rather than relying on Tyran Wishart as a makeshift option.

The Bears can also offer him a significant financial upgrade compared to other teams as they have plenty of salary cap flexibility as they continue to build their inaugural roster.

Possibility: TOP CONTENDER

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

It’s hard to imagine Doueihi returning to the Rabbitohs, but stranger things have happened in the game of rugby league

In 2020, he was moved on by the club following the arrival of Latrell Mitchell, with the Rabbitohs opting to reshape their roster around their new star fullback at the time.

Six years on, could a return to the Cardinal and Myrtle be on the cards?

While his versatility and experience would add value to the Rabbitohs, the side don’t appear to have the salary cap space to make a play for him with the arrival of Payne Haas and a pending contract extension to Cody Walker.

Possibility: UNLIKELY

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

In the midst of a roster rebuild, the Dragons have emerged as a top contender for Adam Doueihi and could make a serious play for the playmaker.

Could you imagine how dangerous the halves pairing of Doueihi and Luke Metcalf could be?

The combination of the pair would give coach Dean Young the perfect blend of creativity, size and speed, with Doueihi’s ball-playing ability complementing Metcalf’s explosive attacking style.

The Dragons have already made significant moves in the transfer market by bringing in Connor Watson, Keaon Koloamatangi, Phillip Sami and Scott Drinkwater.

And the addition of Doueihi would further strengthen their push towards returning to the finals.

Possibility: TOP CONTENDER

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

The Roosters have both depth in the halves and across their outside backs, meaning a move for Adam Doueihi would appear unlikely.

With the likes of Daly Cherry-Evans, Hugo Savala, Sam Walker and other emerging playmakers already in their system, there is limited room for the Tricolours to make a serious play.

However, the depature of Connor Watson to the Dragons, could open a spot in the middle of the field with Doueihi’s versatility allowing him to be used as a lock forward rather than a traditional playmaker.
