Team Tips: Licking their wounds after just a third loss this season at the hands of Melbourne at the MCG. Alex Pearce is set to return after being managed. The question is, who comes out? History would indicate Oscar McDonald is the unlucky omission, but he’s been in strong form including keeping Jacob van Rooyen goalless last weekend. That could put pressure on Brennan Cox or Luke Ryan in an intriguing call for the ladder leaders. Elsewhere, Sean Darcy recorded 18 disposals with 56 hit-outs and a goal in the WAFL to no doubt again raise the weekly selection discussion of Darcy or Mason Cox. There’s a chance the Dockers look to manage another one or two, but you sense they won’t get too cute not tamper with their form.

Team Tips: Set to welcome back a few ahead of a huge road test and big chance to stay in top four contention. Lachlan McAndrew and Jake Soligo should be good to go after they were managed in that unconvincing win over the Tigers, while Darcy Fogarty is eligible to return from suspension. There’s less certainty around James Borlase (hamstring) and Luke Nankervis (chest). Reilly O’Brien and Archie Ludowyke likely make way for McAndrew and Fogarty respectively. Second-gamer Oscar Ryan has impressed in his first two games and would be stiff to get dropped, plus there were a few Crows down on form against Richmond.

Team Tips: It was a gallant effort on Saturday night, but the Tigers fell agonisingly short after missed chances and late ill-discipline. It means there likely won’t be too much unforced change ahead of their last MCG fixture of the season against the Saints, though there’s a possibility that Noah Balta (toe) could be available, and Luke Trainor could return after a one-match suspension. Otherwise, there are no imminent returnees. In the VFL, young forward Harry Armstrong kicked four goals from just 11 touches on return, while Jasper Alger kicked two majors from only six disposals. Ruckman Ollie Hayes-Brown notched a team-high nine clearances to go with 21 disposals and 33 hit-outs to challenge Samson Ryan’s spot in the side, while Campbell Gray made a return to play following his hamstring injury.

Team Tips: Coming off a disastrous Sunday evening at Marvel Stadium, there’ll be multiple forced changes as the Saints hope for a finals miracle in the last fortnight of the season. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury sustained in the opening minutes of the loss to Carlton. Mason Wood was the other soft-tissue victim on Sunday night, going down with a calf injury before half-time that’ll also sideline him for the rest of the home and away campaign. Meanwhile, Liam Ryan (left shoulder) and Tom De Koning (right shoulder) each played through issues against they’ll be monitored throughout the week. Brad Hill made a surprising in-game recovery after initially appearing to suffer a serious knee injury and Jack Silvagni also got through after dislocating his shoulder the previous week. Post-game on Sunday night, Ross Lyon said he’d be assessing the VFL side after its victory over Carlton. Charlie Banfield kicked a goal, collected 17 disposals and generated four inside-50s, while young defender Alix Tauru recorded nine intercepts and had 18 touches. Jack Macrae had 28 disposals, while Dan Butler kicked a goal from 23 possessions.

Team Tips: There’s a watch on Gryan Miers, who didn’t look right in the 67-point win over Essendon with that partially torn right ACL he’s been playing with. Other than that, the Cats are in good health despite the big blowtorch on the club as it deals with the Jake Kolodjashnij saga. Should regain Patrick Dangerfield after the veteran skipper has missed the last two weeks with a hip issue, while young ruckman Mitch Edwards was rested on the weekend as another that could come back in. Despite the absences of Max Holmes and Jeremy Cameron, it’s tight for spots in Chris Scott’s 23, with the likes of James Worpel and Jhye Clark making the most of their chances. Jay Polinghorne, Brad Close and Mark O’Connor were the lowest-rated Cats against the Bombers, but Polkinghorne in particular has played an important role for a forward line missing Cameron.

Team Tips: Back on the winner’s list in a big way with a compressive showing against Hawthorn. And after they had several injury concerns last week, the Lions are in great shape, with Keidean Coleman cleared to return from concussion protocols and Dayne Zorko set to be available despite a hamstring concern against the Hawks. However, Hugh McCluggage will miss another week after scans showed another calf strain. Sam Marshall (27 disposals), Lincoln McCarthy (19 touches, one goal) and Will McLachlan (3.5) all put their hands up for a recall with strong VFL showings but it’s hard to see Chris Fagan looking to make too much change.

Team Tips: Finally snapped their 10-game losing streak against GWS in what had been a horror stretch from a club that had flag aspirations. Sam Collins (ribs) was a late out, while young trio Jai Murray, Dylan Patterson and Beau Addinsall were all rested for that trip to Canberra and could slot straight back with an eye on the Suns developing their next wave. Jy Farrar was quiet in his return to the team in limited game time and would seem most vulnerable to drop out again, while Ethan Read was the Suns’ lowest-rated player. And does Christian Petracca need a rest after a quiet fortnight? Jarrod Witts (31 disposals, 63 hit-outs) and Ben Jepson (39 touches, one goal) had massive games in the VFL and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan kicked five goals.

Team Tips: An intriguing selection week for Sam Mitchell and company after a heavy road loss to Brisbane. Particularly with the Hawks now effectively at full strength in a must-win game against Collingwood as they fight for a top four spot. Conor Nash won’t be back, with Hawthorn confirming the midfielder would undergo season-ending neck surgery for ongoing nerve issue that’s sidelined him since May. A VFL bye is less than ideal timing but Bailey Macdonald should earn a reprieve after a strong run of form in the senior team. Calsher Dear, who’s in demand from multiple rival Victorian clubs, could also be handed a lifeline at an opportunistic time in the lead into finals after Hawthorn’s forward line struggled to fire many shots. It included a particularly down showing from Mabior Chol (goalless with three disposals) while Sam Butler also had limited impact. The Hawks could also weigh up whether or not they roll with the two rucks against Darcy Cameron as another selection lever for Mitchell to potentially pull.

Team Tips: Got through a trip west unscathed and could now welcome back a couple of big names for a blockbuster clash with Hawthorn. Jordan De Goey (glute) and Scott Pendlebury (calf) are the only two injured Pies stars in the frame to return. The duo both need to get through main training on Thursday, where their availability for Saturday’s game will be determined. They would provide a welcome senior boost to one of the youngest teams the Pies have fielded in recent times. You sense that the likes of Harvey Harrison, Angus Anderson and William Hayes would be most vulnerable at selection as the obvious like-for-likes for De Goey and Pendlebury. Jack Buller kicked four goals in the VFL to put some pressure on Charlie West, though Craig McRae did praise the role the young forward played for the team despite only recording two disposals.

Team Tips: After moments of panic on Saturday afternoon, scans have cleared star midfielder Jason Horne-Francis of a serious knee injury. Fortunately, it’s just bone bruising for the dynamic ball-winner, who could yet play against Melbourne on Saturday. Horne-Francis, along with Lachie Jones, is listed as a test to face the Demons. Meanwhile, Joe Richards has been cleared to return from a finger injury. Elsewhere, Zak Butters (syndesmosis will again miss this week but is still “hoping” for a possible round 24 return in what could be his last game for the club. Darcy Byrne-Jones will go out of the side after the Power accepted his one-match suspension. Mitch Georgiades should be able to return from illness, while Xavier Bamert was also withdrawn last week with illness and could come back in.

Team Tips: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Don’t expect Steven King to make many, if any, changes to the team that knocked off the ladder-leading Dockers in the game of the season and Melbourne’s best showing under its coach. King confirmed that Jack Viney will make his long-awaited return from injury via the VFL in the tough midfielder’s first appearance of 2026 after Achilles and back issues. Though the Melbourne coach said Viney wouldn’t get an automatic reprieve to the sixth-placed side when he’s up and running. If any Demons need a rest, Latrelle Pickett may be called upon after missing time with a concussion, while Xavier Lindsay could also come into consideration and Max Heath is waiting in the wings if Max Gawn needs a chop out. Christian Salem (43 per cent game time against Fremantle is basically being used as a pseudo sub in managed minutes upon returning from injury, though King is clearly keen for the halfback to be in the 23.

Team Tips: The Giants’ season is on life support after an inexplicable loss to Gold Coast, and they also lost two key players in wet Canberra conditions. Jayden Laverde exited after copping a knock to the ribs, while Toby Bedford left the game with a back injury. Toby Greene came in for Jack Ough after making a quick recovery from his quad injury, and not only got through but played a key role. Adam Kingsley will make more changes for what’ll be a deflating last fortnight of the season, and a few players put their hands up in the VFL. Team Tips: Young gun Harley Reid was bothered by a corked thigh in Sunday’s loss to Collingwood, but you wouldn’t think that’d impact his playing status for this week’s clash with the Giants. And there mightn’t be too much unforced change from Andrew McQualter after a spirited, high-scoring effort against the Magpies. There’ll be a watch on Jack Hutchinson after he was listed as a test last week with a hamstring injury but didn’t play at either level. Fin Macrae, who hasn’t played an AFL game for West Coast since crossing over from Collingwood last off-season, was the WAFL side’s major ball-winner with 31 disposals and eight inside-50s. Second-year midfielder Lucca Grego had 21 disposals, while ruckman Matt Flynn had 19 possessions, 43 hit-outs and kicked two goals. Hamish Davis had 19 possessions after being dropped a couple of weeks back, while Elijah Hewett was on track for a best-on-ground showing before a bad corky in the second term ended his day. And that’s after forced change, with Tim English every chance to miss the rest of the season with MCL damage to his left knee. Mid-season draftee Caleb May could be his replacement, having totalled 22 hit-outs, 10 disposals and five marks in the VFL at the weekend. Elsewhere, Harvey Gallagher had 27 disposals and nine marks in the reserves to press his case for a recall, having been an emergency last week. Oskar Baker and Jedd Busslinger were also emergencies for the Roos game, with the latter having been dropped the week before.

Team Tips: The red-hot Blues have a selection headache on their hands. Jacob Weitering now has VFL minutes under his belt in his bid to return to the senior side. Weitering took 12 marks with six intercept possessions and amassed 19 disposals in his return via the twos on the weekend. The question is, will Josh Fraser tweak a good thing and mess with a winning formula when the current back six has held up so superbly in the All-Australian’s absence? And if he does return, where does the change come? Fraser said Weitering would “come into consideration” as they assess the “best approach for the player and team.” Weitering’s quality is unquestioned, but the Blues have done more than OK without him, and the All-Australian might benefit from extended VFL conditioning before an AFL return. But if Fraser believes now is the time to inject the 28-year-old into his purring line-up, it’d surely come at either Wade Derksen or Lewis Young’s expense. Derksen would appear slightly less likely to keep his spot, given the straight swap with Weitering and Young’s adaptability up forward and second-rucking. Would Derksen be as efficient playing Young’s role? Otherwise, there won’t be much unforced change at Carlton from here on out. Ollie Hollands, Adam Saad and Zac Williams remain in the VFL, with seemingly little avenue for any of them to get back into the side before the year’s out.

Team Tips: Dean Solomon may opt to make a few more changes after his Bombers side was easily pushed aside by Geelong last Saturday. Provided he’s ticked all necessary boxes, Angus Clarke could return after a concussion kept him out against the Cats. Darcy Parish will be a watch as he nurses a calf issue, listed last week as a test but not playing at either level. Among those potentially vulnerable, Rhys Unwin didn’t manage a kick in 70 per cent game time, while Zak Johnson managed two effective kicks in 77 per cent time on ground. In the VFL side’s one-point win over Collingwood, Jade Gresham was prolific, kicking 4.3 from 24 disposals, six marks and five clearances. Elijah Tsatas accumulated 31 possessions and eight clearances, and Nik Cox booted 2.2 from 12 disposals and five marks. Ben McKay had 13 disposals and six marks.
