THURSDAY AUGUST 27
Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm @ Suncorp Stadium, 7.50pm
Last week’s Broncos team: 1. Hayze Perham 2. Josiah Karapani 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Deine Mariner 5. Grant Anderson 6. Ezra Mam 7. Ben Hunt 8. Xavier Willison 9. Billy Walters 10. Payne Haas 11. Jaiyden Hunt 12. Jordan Riki 13. Patrick Carrigan 14. Blake Mozer 15. Aublix Tawha 16. Jack Gosiewski 17. Va’a Semu 18. Thomas Duffy 19. Gehamat Shibasaki
Team Tips: All eyes will be on halfback Adam Reynolds to see if he recovers from his calf injury in time to get a farewell game at Suncorp Stadium. Broncos coach Michael Maguire told Code Sports he will make a decision on Monday on Reynolds’ fitness. “We will give ‘Reyno’ every opportunity, but he has a bit of a way to go,” Maguire said. “He had a run on Friday, but it wasn’t high-intensity training; he is working his way through that. Reyno is keen to play every week, but it’s whether the body says he is allowed to play and, right now, it’s a wait-and-see. He has to tick a few boxes to get himself right – he has to get through Monday’s session.”
Last week’s Storm team: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown 3. Jack Howarth 4. Nick Meaney 5. Moses Leo 6. Cameron Munster 14. Tyran Wishart. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Shawn Blore 12. Oryn Keeley 13. Trent Loiero 7. Trent Toelau 15. Alec MacDonald 16. Angus Hinchey 17. Cooper Clarke 18. Joe Chan 21. Jack Hetherington
Team Tips: The Storm aren’t expected to make any major changes outside of potentially welcoming back Jahrome Hughes from injury. However, with Melbourne out of finals contention Melbourne may be tempted to hold Hughes out for the rest of the season since there is always a risk of re-aggravating hamstring injuries.

FRIDAY AUGUST 28
Manly Sea Eagles vs St. George Illawarra Dragons @ 4 Pines Park, 6pm
Last week’s Sea Eagles team: 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jason Saab 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Lehi Hopoate 6. Clayton Faulalo 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Simione Laiafi 9. Brandon Wakeham 10. Nathan Brown 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jake Trbojevic 14. Jake Simpkin 15. Nicholas Lenaz 16. Corey Waddell 17. Caleb Navale 18. Josh Feledy 19. Fletcher Baker
Team Tips: Still in finals contention, the Sea Eagles will have to win against the Dragons without star centre TolutauKoula (syndesmosis) who is facing the remainder of the season on the sidelines. “Tolu’s not great. I think they’re saying maybe a Grade 2 syndesmosis, so he’s looking likely to miss a couple of weeks,” Kieran Foran said. However, in some positive news, Ethan Bullemor (concussion) is set to return, while Clayton Faulalo (back) will also be available despite picking up a minor niggle. “Clayton’s got a bit of a back niggle. I think he’s okay. It’s not too bad,” Foran added. Taniela Paseka is also a chance to return from a knee injury. If Bullemor and Paseka both suit up it would push Nathan Brown back to the bench while Josh Feledy will be a straight swap for Koula.
Last week’s Dragons team: 1. Daniel Atkinson 2. Mathew Feagai 3. Moses Suli 4. Valentine Holmes 5. Tyrell Sloan 6. Lyhkan King-Togia 7. Kyle Flanagan 8. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga 9. Jacob Liddle 15. Toby Couchman 11. Dylan Egan 12. Hamish Stewart 13. Ryan Couchman 14. Damien Cook 16. Jacob Halangahu 17. Jacob Webster 18. Setu Tu 19. Josh Kerr 20. Blake Lawrie
Team Tips: The Dragons are expected to be forced into at least one change with dummy-half Jacob Liddle (calf) picking up an injury in last week’s match. Dragons coach Dean Young said the club believes it is a torn calf for Liddle, adding it was a good result in a way given there were initial fears based on the way he went down that the crafty hooker could have torn his Achilles. His absence opens up the door for either Connor Muhleisen, who recently returned from a ruptured ACL, or Kade Reed to join the six-man interchange bench with Damien Cook shifting into the starting side. Clinton Gutherson (knee), David Fale (calf) and HaydenBuchanan (shoulder) won’t play again this season.
Penrith Panthers vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs @ CommBank Stadium, 8pm
Last week’s Panthers team: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Izack Tago 4. Casey McLean 5. Brian To’o 6. Jack Cogger 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Freddy Lussick 10. Liam Henry 11. Isaiah Papali’i 12. Liam Martin 13. Lindsay Smith 14. Billy Scott 15. Scott Sorensen 16. Luron Patea 17. Billy Phillips 18. Jack Cole 21. Luke Garner
Team Tips: The Panthers have been forced to change their spine once again after Jack Cogger (suspension) copped a three-match ban for a shoulder charge in last week’s match against the Storm. Cogger’s absence means it’s a two-way race between Blaize Talagi and Jack Cole to fill the No. 6 jersey. Cole is the frontrunner to accompany Nathan Cleary after he was rested from NSW Cup duties, while Talagi featured in the match. Star trio Isaah Yeo (pectoral), Paul Alamoti (hamstring) and MitchKenny (leg) remain sidelined and aren’t expected to return. “Not exactly sure where they are in their rehab but looking forward to having them back,” Dylan Edwards said on Fox League. Kenny, however, could return for the club’s final regular season game against the Tigers.
Last week’s Bulldogs team: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Matt Burton 4. Bronson Xerri 22. Jonathan Sua 6. Stephen Crichton 7. Lachlan Galvin 8. Max King 9. Bailey Hayward 10. Leo Thompson 11. Viliame Kikau 12. Jacob Preston 13. Jaeman Salmon 14. Kurt Mann 15. Josh Curran 16. Harry Hayes 17. Alekolasimi Jones 19. Jake Turpin 20. Sean O’Sullivan
Team Tips: The Bulldogs were well and truly in the wars last week, with Cameron Ciraldo revealing five players battled Covid-19 and Jacob Preston spent time in hospital with an infection. The club has more issues to contend with this week too, with Kurt Mann (groin) in doubt. “It doesn’t look like he will be alright next week,” Ciraldo said. Enari Tuala should return though in a welcome boost after aggravating a knee injury at training. Ciraldo also revealed that Jacob Kiraz has been playing with a torn calf for the past three weeks, but he will suit up again for the must-win game against the Panthers.

SATURDAY AUGUST 29
Gold Coast Titans vs South Sydney Rabbitohs @ Cbus Super Stadium, 3pm
Last week’s Titans team: 1. Keano Kini 2. Jaylan De Groot 3. Jojo Fifita 4. AJ Brimson 5. Phillip Sami 6. Jayden Campbell 7. Lachlan Ilias 15. Klese Haas 9. Oliver Pascoe 10. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui 14. Kurtis Morrin 12. Beau Fermor 13. Cooper Bai 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 15. Arama Hau 16. Chris Randall 17. Bodhi Sharpley 18. Luke Sommerton 19. Sialetili Faeamani
Team Tips:
Last week’s Rabbitohs team: 1. Matthew Dufty 2. Alex Johnston 3. Tallis Duncan 4. Jack Wighton 5. Campbell Graham 6. Cody Walker 7. Jayden Sullivan 8. Tevita Tatola 9. Brandon Smith 10. Keaon Koloamatangi 11. David Fifita 12. Euan Aitken 13. Cameron Murray 14. Jye Gray 15. Lachlan Hubner 16. Sean Keppie 17. Liam Le Blanc 18. Peter Mamouzelos 19. Edward Kosi
Team Tips: All eyes will be on Latrell Mitchell this week as the Rabbitohs centre looks to make his long-awaited return and by all accounts, he should be back provided he gets through training after getting close last week. “I’m confident,” Wayne Bennett said. “There was a chance (for this week). He trained pretty well but just probably needs another week. We took a cautious approach and we’ll give him another week.” That will bump the impressive Tallis Duncan back to the second row and Euan Aitken to the bench. Adam Elliott (groin) remains another week away.

Sydney Roosters vs Dolphins @ Allianz Stadium, 5.30pm
Last week’s Roosters team: 18. Cody Ramsey 2. Billy Smith 3. Hugo Savala 4. Robert Toia 5. Mark Nawaqanitawase 6. Daly Cherry-Evans 7. Sam Walker 8. Naufahu Whyte 9. Reece Robson 16. Nat Butcher 11. Salesi Foketi 12. Siua Wong 13. Victor Radley 10. Spencer Leniu 14. Connor Watson 15. Lindsay Collins 17. Egan Butcher 19. Tommy Talau 20. Rex Bassingthwaighte
Team Tips: After being upset by the Tigers on Sunday, the Sydney Roosters will be hoping to have James Tedesco (ankle) back in the side. That is no guarantee, however, after coach Trent Robinson hinted last week the injury may be worse than first thought.
“It’s been, obviously, a bit frustrating for Ted and we’ve named him each week, but he’s not right to play this week,” Robinson said. “He’s progressed quite well, but it’s a bit more niggly than what we thought.” Channel Nine reporter Danny Weidler then added to the mystery by revealing on Monday morning that Tedesco has been unusually quiet on the injury. Weidler said he has a “pretty good relationship” with the Roosters fullback and texted him three weeks ago to see how the injury was but hasn’t got an answer back. “Normally he’ll come back with, ‘Yeah it’s sweet’, but nothing back. I thought if it wasn’t too bad he’d be probably say he’s sweet,” Weidler said on ‘The Big Sports Breakfast’. “I don’t know about this week but apparently other weeks when he’s been getting to that captain’s run stage he hasn’t been able to get the power he needs out of the ankle to trust it.” In more welcome news, Angus Crichton (foot) and Daniel Tupou (shoulder) are expected to be available for this week’s match. Meanwhile, Victor Radley (concussion) had to undergo a HIA in the final stages of last round’s match but Robinson was not sure what category the head knock is or if failed the concussion protocols when speaking to reporters after the loss to the Tigers.
Last week’s Dolphins team: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jack Bostock 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Selwyn Cobbo 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Thomas Flegler 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Tom Gilbert 17. Brian Pouniu 12. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki 13. Morgan Knowles 11. Max Plath 14. Ray Stone 15. Francis Molo 16. Felise Kaufusi 18. Brad Schneider 19. Jake Averillo
Team Tips: The Dolphins should welcome the versatile Kurt Donoghoe back from a thumb injury, with Jake Averillo likely to drop off the extended bench. Connelly Lemuelu is still one week away from returning from his hamstring injury.
North Queensland Cowboys vs Wests Tigers @ Queensland Country Bank Stadium, 7.35pm
Round 24 Cowboys team: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Braidon Burns 3. Zac Laybutt 4. Tomas Chester 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Jake Clifford 7. Jaxon Purdue 8. Griffin Neame 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Jason Taumalolo 11. Heilum Luki 12. Kai O’Donnell 13. Reuben Cotter 14. Soni Luke 15. Thomas Mikaele 16. John Bateman 17. Coen Hess 18. Sam McIntyre 19. Ethan King
Team Tips: The Cowboys need to win on Saturday night with the Bulldogs threatening to sneak into the top eight and could get a big boost with both Tom Dearden and Jeremiah Nanai scheduled to return from injuries this week. Dearden’s return would bump Jaxon Purdue back to the centres in place of Zac Laybutt while Jeremiah Nanai would send Kai O’Donnell back to the bench.
Last week’s Tigers team: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Junior Tupou 3. Solomane Saukuru 4. Patrick Herbert 5. Jeral Skelton 6. Jarome Luai 7. Jock Madden 10. Fonua Pole 9. Apisai Koroisau 16. Alex Seyfarth 11. Samuela Fainu 12. Tony Sukkar 13. Alex Twal 8. Terrell May 14. Heath Mason 15. Sione Fainu 17. Bunty Afoa 18. Tristan Hope 22. Faaletino Tavana
Team Tips: Benji Marshall is set to be forced into making at least two changes to his side that defeated the Roosters in Round 25. Alex Twal (concussion) will be unavailable after his head knock was deemed a Category 1. Elsewhere, back-rower Samuela Fainu (ankle) departed the field in the final stages of last week’s win and has been set to undergo scans, according to coach Benji Marshall. Terrell May will start with Twal unavailable while Sione will likely replace brother Samuela if he is unavailable. Ethan Roberts is another option. Latu Fainu (hamstring) and Sunia Turuva (knee) have yet to be ruled out for the remainder of the season but the duo aren’t likely to be rushed back.
Haas set to miss World Cup with injury | 00:27
SUNDAY AUGUST 30
Warriors vs Newcastle Knights @ Go Media Stadium, 2pm
Last week’s Warriors team: 1. Taine Tuaupiki 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 18. Adam Pompey 4. Leka Halasima 5. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 6. Luke Hanson 7. Chanel Harris-Tavita 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Mitchell Barnett 11. Kurt Capewell 12. Jacob Laban 13. Erin Clark 3. Ali Leiataua 14. Samuel Healey 15. Tanner Stowers-Smith 16. Demitric Vaimauga 17. Eddie Ieremia-Toeava 21. Jett Cleary
Team Tips: The Warriors are set to be without winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (collarbone) for an extended period, which will likely see Adam Pompey shift to the wing and Ali Leiataua join the starting side at centre. Haizyn Mellars is another option to make his debut. Elsewhere, Te Maire Martin is expected to return this week from his hamstring injury which will see Luke Hanson drop out of the team.
Last week’s Knights team: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Fletcher Hunt 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Fletcher Sharpe 7. Sandon Smith 8. Cody Hopwood 9. Phoenix Crossland 10. Trey Mooney 11. Jermaine McEwen 12. Tyson Frizell 13. Mathew Croker 14. Jacob Saifiti 14. Harrison Graham 16. Lachlan Crouch 17. Thomas Cant 19. Toby Winter 22. Elijah Leaumoana
Team Tips: Star duo Dominic Young (suspension) and Tyson Frizell (suspension) have both been slapped with one-match bans making them unavailable for the match unless the club decides to contest the charges at the judiciary. Dane Gagai could return from his hamstring injury, but otherwise expect Fletcher Hunt to shift to the wing and Toby Winter to play at centre. As for Frizell, Francis Manuleleua is set to return this week from a concussion layoff so he’d be a straight swap. The Knights do have a bye in hand and a four-point buffer on the Rabbitohs so they could afford to rest players, but if South Sydney wins both its games to close out the year Newcastle would drop to seventh on for-and-against and lose the right to host a home final.
Parramatta Eels vs Cronulla Sharks @ CommBank Stadium 4.05pm
Last week’s Eels team: 1. Apa Twidle 2. Brian Kelly 3. Viliami Penisini 18. Sean Russell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Ronald Volkman 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Luca Moretti 9. Tallyn Da Silva 10. Junior Paulo 11. Jack Williams 12. Kitione Kautoga 15. Saxon Pryke 13. Jack de Belin 14. Harrison Edwards 16. Teancum Brown 17. Jezaiah Funa-Luta 19. Kelma Tuilagi
Team Tips: There has been no update yet on the extent of Jordan Samrani’s injury he suffered in the pre-game warm-up, with the Eels expected to line up as named against the Dolphins should he miss Sunday’s game. Dylan Walker is a chance of returning from his wrist injury, which would see him join the bench with Kelma Tuilagi likely to drop off.
Last week’s Sharks team: 1. William Kennedy 2. Sione Katoa 3. Mawene Hiroti 4. KL Iro 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Niwhai Puru 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Jesse Colquhoun 11. Briton Nikora 12. Teig Wilton 17. Thomas Hazelton 13. Cameron McInnes 14. Siosifa Talakai 15. Billy Burns 17. Oregon Kaufusi 18. Hohepa Puru 21. Samuel Stonestreet
Team Tips: No changes are expected for the Sharks, with Braydon Trindall aiming to return from his shoulder injury in the finals.
Bye: Canberra Raiders
